The organization strives to instill in all people an appreciation of Florida’s public lands and natural resources for what they are – the key to the sustainability and prosperity of the state. Through five focused pillars of support, The Alliance’s work enriches the park experience and creates deeper connections between diverse communities and the nature that abounds in their backyards.

    Organizational Overview

Established in 2002, The Alliance for Florida’s National Parks is the official philanthropic partner for the four national parks within the state of Florida, which includes Everglades, Biscayne and Dry Tortugas National Parks, as well as Big Cypress National Preserve. What does “official philanthropic partner” mean? As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we raise both money and awareness to support programs and activities within these national parks. We focus on five key areas of support and allyship: Environmental Education, Preservation & Protection, Community Engagement, Restoration, and Exploration. We strive to instill in all people an appreciation of Florida’s public lands and natural resources for what they are – the key to the sustainability and prosperity of the state – by enriching the park experience and connecting diverse communities to the nature that abounds in their backyards. You may have once known us as the South Florida National Parks Trust. We recently reintroduced ourselves as The Alliance for Florida’s National Parks. What began as a small group of Floridians with a profound love for the national parks is still just that. We are an intimate but mighty team with deep roots throughout the state, and a dedication to protecting and preserving public lands. As The Alliance, we are about more than just raising funds – we unite those who champion the safeguarding of these national parks, ensuring that Florida remains natural, wild and – most importantly – accessible. Many people are aware of the recreational offerings throughout the wild landscape of the Everglades, Biscayne, Dry Tortugas and Big Cypress, but under the cypress domes, amongst the mangroves, knee-deep in the swamp and in between the gator holes are a purposeful and agile group of national park rangers that are constantly creating ways to better conserve the resources within these lands, connect to the greater community and to cultivate lifelong learnings that will lead to a legacy of environmental stewardship. Their visions are sometimes so great and vast that additional support is needed on top of what is received from the National Park Service. That’s where The Alliance – and you – come in! Together, we give the parks the extra boost that they need to ensure that our state’s greatest natural ecosystems are preserved and protected for generations to come.
