To reduce falls by seniors over 65 in SW Florida that result in injury, disability, and death

Organizational Overview

Step Smart Collier is an all-volunteer non-profit dedicated to reducing the number of falls by senior citizens in Collier County. We do so with a program of public education seminars on the steps each of us can take to reduce the risk of falling in our homes and public places. Our secondary program is the distribution of brochures and Tri-fold pamphlets containing information on home safety audit by EMS personnel and hospital discharge teams. There are no fees for the programs. They are run by an all-volunteer staff. Our central message is that “Falling is not a natural part of aging. If you fall there is a reason. The reasons and the risks associated with them causing falls can be identified and reduced.” We explain the steps -Smart Steps – that they can take to reduce the risk of falling.
