Mission Statement

The mission of SWFLMEC is to create a world-class music education center where neurodiverse students who have a strong interest in music and low to moderate support needs receive education in music and life skills, preparing them for meaningful growth opportunities that enrich their lives and the community as a whole.

Organizational Overview

For musically inclined neurodiverse young adults, few high school transition and post-secondary music programs exist anywhere in the United States. Southwest Florida Music Education Center (SWFLMEC) is providing life-changing education opportunities designed to enhance the student experience and make a lifelong impact. A 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in August 2019, SWFLMEC is fostering independence through world-class music education, life skills instruction, place-based internships and work experiences, and peer mentoring. Our programs create meaningful growth opportunities that enrich the lives of our students and the community as a whole.
