Residential Options of Florida (ROOF)

B.J. became a ROOF client in 2019. B.J had no support services in place, but ROOF was able to assist B.J in accessing a health plan and support services that could meet his needs. Once his services were approved, B.J was matched with a caretaker who provides him with daily support services, such as help with transportation, cooking, cleaning, and caring for his home. These services changed B.J.'s life and increased his self-sufficiency tremendously. B.J. lives with another ROOF resident, J.G. where they both are cared for by their shared caretaker and take part in activities such as Special Olympics tournaments, volunteer opportunities, and other events to ensure their inclusion within their local community. B.J is now the proud owner of a small business where he sells fresh produce at a local farmers market. Through the generosity of his community, B.J was gifted the use of a van to assist him in transporting produce to and from his stand at the farmers market. The produce is also gifted to him by agricultural businesses in the local community.
