Description

  • Organizational Overview

Several local organizations have realized the importance of delivering weekend nutrition to at-risk students. PFC provides a “best in class” set of meal offerings including 13 kid-friendly, shelf stable meals designed to meet or exceed the USDA recommendations for calories, carbohydrates, and proteins for elementary school aged children for two days over the weekend. The Power Pack is designed assuming there is little or no accessible, nutritious food available in the home, providing meals for both the child and their family. Unlike most weekend backpack programs, PFC rotates between four Power Pack menus, delivering food with variety that children will eat and enjoy. Power Packs are hand-delivered into children’s backpacks every Friday. PFC is a grassroots organization that engages over 300 volunteers annually. PFC receives the support of over 1,500 donors annually, including board members whose gifts support the operating costs of the organization.
