Organizational Overview

Collier Sports Foundation Inc was born out of a desire to fund raise for a diverse range of youth sports programs. A special emphasis is given to sports groups and communities that are most in need or most under served by current programs, including youth in areas where there are a lack of sports resources.

Statement of Need

In terms of high priority, Immokalee in northern Collier County, has areas of significant abject poverty that makes it increasingly difficult for young people to participate in youth sports events and programs. This is due in most part down to financial disadvantage, where 39.8% of the population are below the poverty line. The Collier Sports Foundation sees it as a civic duty to give youth across Collier County a sense of hope and aspiration through sport or sport related programs. Children’s experiences through youth sports, can have positive long-term consequences for their health and well-being. We strongly believe that the qualities gained through team sports such as responsibility, discipline, decision making, leadership skills and sense of accomplishment, can help grow fine young citizens. Our aim therefore, is to provide those resources financial or otherwise that are required for young people to participate in youth sports and sports related programs across Collier County.
