Organizational Overview
Collier Senior Resources (CSR) is a nonprofit organization that provides free services for seniors, caregivers and those in need, including the Golden Gate Senior Center since 2014; life-enhancing programs, services and seminars; the Leadership Coalition on Aging; the Virtual Resource Directory (CollierSeniorResources.org) and more. • Founded in 2010 by the Community Foundation of Collier County and the Women’s Philanthropic Network to meet the needs of low-income seniors. • Offers seniors on a modest/fixed-income: fellowship, enrichment, wellness services, continuing education and basic services in a safe, welcoming environment. • Addresses the increased depression, declining mental and physical health, as well as increased risk of death, associated with social isolation among the elderly. • Provides local and long-distance caregivers a centralized source for senior-related information, services and resources in Collier County. Collier Senior Resources at the Golden Gate Senior Center, partners with others to provide programs, socialization, information, seminars and convenient access to agency personnel such as: Collier County’s daily hot lunch program, AARP Foundation job placement, and Meals of Hope Food pantry. Other programs and services for older adults and caregivers include: UPSLIDE program, case assistance, emergency/direct financial assistance, educational seminars, support groups, mental health counseling, and citizen preparation classes. GGSC also offers recreation and developmental opportunities to combat loneliness and isolation: art therapy, crafts, English literacy, chair yoga, Zumba, bingo, monthly birthday parties, and health screenings. The Golden Gate Senior Center is diverse, serves over 1,460 seniors and has bilingual staff in English, Spanish, and Haitian Creole. Due to the current pandemic, our program delivery has shifted to virtual as our Senior Center is closed for regular activities. We are hosting virtual support groups, exercise classes, tele-mental health counseling, and other activities. As an organization serving the elderly, we are committed to providing needed resources to seniors in need.
