Description

  • Academic achievement is the primary goal of CCPS. As a product of the work of the District, CCPS has improved its ranking to tie for 5th in the State, up from 33rd just eight years ago. This success is clearly seen in the number of students that have increased their performance on state tests.  The percentage of students exceeding the state average has skyrocketed to 95% in 2019, up from 30% in 2011. The District’s graduation rate has also risen significantly to 91.9% in 2018 from 72.5% in 2011, an increase of 19.4%.

While academic achievement is paramount, the District has a strong commitment to social and emotional learning and equity for all. CCPS strives to ensure everyone reaches their full potential while considering social, emotional, and personal circumstances. CCPS prioritizes an inclusive environment where children have access to rigorous grade-level standards, instructional materials/learning platforms, content, and challenging curriculum regardless of background. CCPS is committed to allocating equitable school funding and ensuring schools serving populations with greater needs have access to additional resources. A multiyear focus of the District has also included social and emotional learning. Social and emotional learning is the process through which children and adults acquire and apply the knowledge, attitudes, and skills needed to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relations, and make responsible decisions. The District has five programs that are embedded in every school to support students in this way, helping ensure they are life ready.
